Claudia
Claudia Han, PhD
Assistant Professor
Claudia joined the BIG Center and the Department of Pathology and Immunology in winter 2023. She received her PhD from the University of Virginia School of Medicine and completed her postdoctoral studies at UCSD. In her free time, she enjoys eating, photography, watching mysteries and Asian TV dramas, and running—but only short distances.
Yangchen
Yangchen, MS
Research Tech II
Yangchen received a BA in Biological Science with a minor in Chemistry and a minor in Bioinformatics from San Jose State University. She receives a master's degree at Johns Hopkins University, majoring in Biotechnology with a concentration in Bioinformatics. She is interested in immunology, pathology, and diseases. In her free time, she enjoys listening to music, traveling, exploring cities, and participating in outdoor activities.
Arianne
Arianne Pagan-Torres
Neuroscience Graduate Student
Arianne earned a BS degree in Microbiology from Universidad Ana G. Méndez in Puerto Rico. She completed a postbaccalaureate program studying glial cells in lysosomal storage disorders at the University of Chicago. Currently, Arianne is a student in the DBBS Neuroscience program, with interests in neuroimmunology, and glia and lysosomal dysfunction in diseases. In her free time, she enjoys reading, board games, music, and outdoor activities.
Josue
Josue Figueroa
Undergraduate Student
Josue is an undergraduate student at Washington University in St. Louis majoring in Biology on the Neuroscience track. He is interested in neuroscience, nutrition, and diseases. In his free time, he enjoys playing tennis, the violin, and going on bike rides.
Rachel
Rachel Johnston
Research Tech II
Rachel received a BA in Neuroscience through the Distinguished Majors Program at the University of Virginia. During her time at UVA, she worked on developing organ-on-chip models to study interactions between the immune system and the brain. She is especially interested in how cells drive disease processes. In her free time, she enjoys baking, hiking, thrift shopping, and running.
